This has to be one of my favourite thing's that I learned in school. It's common sense that you need lighting for any kind of event. Right? Well I hope it's common sense. If not, google now!
Otherwise, try capturing your event theme perfectly through the use of GOBO lighting. This form of lighting includes actual metal templates that slide over the light causing it to create patterns and shapes. For example, if your event was themed "Under the Sea" ( I yearn to do this theme) then your GOBO template could have fish, jelly fish or waves.
The lighting behind the templates come in all sorts of colours and can change colours periodically through the night. Using GOBO's allows you to create a mood and atmosphere which essentially allows you to save money on decor.
