Wishing I was Here.

At the CNE, of course! Even though the temperature outside is above sweltering, I would love to be at the CNE, taking in some concerts, rides, a bit or a lot of bargain shopping and errrr maybe a corn dog?

The ex runs until this weekend! Get there while you can.

Back.

Sorry for the week lapse in posts, for whoever is reading this other then my one follower Nick. I was busy with work and the yacht club for an event we held on Sunday. Although it was a beautiful day, it left me quite crispy-burnt and way tired.

Boutonnieres that make me smile.

Sorry, I have been in this wedding obsession lately, just seeing all the tiny knick-knacks you can make yourself, and all the simple, delicate flowers and linens just makes me happy. I even started making my own hair pieces and boutonnieres! Crazy I know! But, so addictive!!
Check out these "cute-as" boutonnieres.

Nautical

Guinea feathers and turquoise = favourite!

P.s. If anyone is out there, any thoughts on which city and/or destination I should look into next? Let me know!

On a stick.

I know sometimes it can be messy, or you might, potentially stab the inside of your mouth trying to eat it, but food on a stick is an all time favourite for everyone. Not only is it easy to make, it's also a neat way to serve up food at an event, and eliminates a lot of the costs that buffets or sit downs would have. Food on a stick also ties in great with a carnival or circus theme and acts as a pretty and tasty take home gift. Check out these yummy treats.

Couldn't help it! Corn Dogs are a must!

Wishing.

Back to work this morning. I had a lovely weekend up north, and I saw Great Big Sea! The best Canadian Band ever! I am happy to be back at my desk and blogging, but missing the fresh air up in Caledon.

You want to be there. I know, me too.

A Secluded Favourite.

I promise too move on to a new city soon, but just one more favourite from Toronto!
Just a boat ride away from downtown Toronto, lies Wards Island. This family fun weekend destination also acts as a town for many of its residents. Yes! There are people that live on the island, and let me tell you..the houses are as spectacular as the view. Wards Island is also home to The Queen City Yacht Club and The Royal Canadian Yacht Club. Amongst these are:
-Ward's Island Beach -

-3 Wading pools-

-Far enough farm-

-Iroquois Restaurant + Paradise Restaurant -

-Toronto Island Marina -

-Avenue of the Islands Gardens -

Even if you decide to go for the day, rent a bike, have a picnic, some wine, a little swim, check out the sailors, or not. I promise you will love the relaxing vibes, the water and the lovley people.

DO it yourself.

I never really entertained the idea of origami. I think i was just to lazy to learn. After seeing it used in bouquets, hung from ceilings, and even as accents to centerpieces; I was hooked. I haven't got as good nor as quick as I'd like to, but I'm working on. Check out how to make beautiful flowers, cranes and stars here.

Amazing!

Before Summer is out.

I would like to tell you that I am way to mature to throw a garden party and drink tea, in a pretty floral dress. But, I'm so not because tea/garden parties absolutley thrill me! A garden party is a great idea for a bridal shower, birthday parties and or just an excuse to get together and laugh, eat pastries and drink tea. Plus, you get to wear a pretty dress. Fantastic!

*Have it in your own garden, and avoid venue fees.

BLU Ristorante & Lounge

Italian food at its best, and cooked by the best. This yummyness is found at BLU Ristorante & Lounge, where Executive Chef Massimo Callovini will serve you the most amazing Braised Lamb Shank or a delicious Penne Bolognese. Being Italian, I tend to be picky about the food served at many Italian restaurants because it never tastes like the pizza and pasta I've tasted in Friuli.
However, BLU has the most delicious Italian food, smooth wines, live music and a very relaxed and cool atmosphere. It sure beats eating in Nonna's basement kitchen, sitting on shag carpeting.

BLU Ristorante & Lounge also doubles as venue space. It can accommodate up to 110 people while at the same time offering a size able reception/cocktail area and bar. They even have staging and sound systems for live entertainment.

If you decide to plan a private function, be sure to check out there preset menus.

Post Card Glory.

I always liked the tackiness of vintage postcards. I tend to like old-school tacky in general. I never thought of using a postcard as a save-the-date or invitation until I saw it perusing for images on the web. I love it. If I were getting married or planning anything but a gala (which I never get to do!) this would be my first choice in place of expensive linen cashmere loopty loop lace invites.

Thought: I like the idea of burning the edges of the postcard giving it a romantic, civil war-love-letter kind of look. Reminds me of school projects. Sighh.
